Body-Energy Sessions
On its own-- and in conjunction with coaching-- body-energy work is for people who want to move with greater ease and depth through life transitions and challenges. By developing body-energy awareness through conscious touch work and movement, you will learn to feel and embody your energy for action and change-- an integral aspect of bringing your goals to life and fulfillment!
Note: For survivors of sexual abuse and other trauma, I also offer safe, focused, body-based work that helps relieve the effects of trauma and supports dealing with professional and personal life transitions.

Living Fulfilled-- Finding Time for What Matters Most!
People who come to me for coaching usually feel they don't have time for what really matters to them. However, the time element is usually buried under other life and career disharmony, stress, and distractions. Usually my clients express their concerns in some of the following ways:
- I'm overworked, so it's hard to enjoy what I'm doing, even though it's the career I want.
- I'm not satisfied at work and want to change.
- I'm out of shape and want to feel fit again.
- I feel I'm not present enough for the needs of my family or partner or spouse.
- I'm concerned about who or what I will become in retirement.
- I have so many things I'm trying to do, and at the end of the day, I don't feel I've gotten anywhere or done anything of meaning to me.
Underneath these concerns, I sense a need for greater clarity about what is fulfilling and meaningful in these people's lives. Any of my clients reading this will probably smile, because they now know that becoming aware of your purpose and finding ways to live it out is at the heart of life coaching. What's interesting is that doing so can also expand your quality time for doing what matters. One of my clients, for example, has greatly clarified his understanding of how important his art work is to him. He created a daily computerized check list to see the amount of time he puts into activities that matter and that don't matter to him-- and has developed ways to put more time per week on his art projects by creating a flexible schedule for his job. In the process, he realized that he had also opened a purposeful pathway for retirement, which was one of his coaching goals.
For those of you who'd like to have more quality time for what you really want to do, here are some suggestions:
- Explore what is meaningful and fulfilling in your life. Remember times when you felt energized and engaged. What were you doing? What was important about this to you?
- See how you can raise the percentage of time you spend doing what is meaningful to you in your daily life. For example, find or create a job/career that is inherently fulfilling; find ways to accentuate doing what you like at your current job; focus on creative projects outside of work.
- If you're doing what you love for work, but have no time for family, self-care, downtime, etc., look at re-arranging your work time into a more flexible schedule so you have more time before or after work, or an extra day per week free. Consider working closer to home and save on commute time.
- Create a plan that includes time for doing something you want to do (including time to relax and recharge) every day. Starting with just fifteen minutes a day is fine. Schedule this time in your calendar and do what it says!
- Reduce the amount of time you spend on "comfort" activities such as snack times, sudoko puzzles, or computer games. Consider instead something healthy and generative for yourself such as a ten-minute brisk walk, a power nap, a short meditation, or a fun, creative activity.
If you or someone you know would like to explore the new pathways and fresh perspectives that coaching offers to help find time in your life for what matters most to you, please let me know. I offer free sample coaching sessions and lively tele-classes (see below) that make it easy for you to experience the value of this dynamic, supportive experience!

MORE Tips For Growing Your Life

The Power Hour
This past week I've been using a great practice by Bill Baren, career coach, for maximizing your daily output on important projects, which he calls the "Power Hour." Do you have trouble keeping your focus and start trying to do other, less productive tasks just when you need to complete a critical business project, for example? Follow Bill's tips below and feel your confidence in getting what you want done soar! (Note-- these are very helpful for personal projects, as well.)
How to Power Your Day with a Power Hour
- Your Top Priority. Select the project or activity that will have the greatest impact on your business. Something that will generate revenue or achieve a strategic goal. (example: a block of time to send emails to prospective clients)
- Create a Productive Environment. Settle into a productive environment where you won't be disturbed (example: a quiet office with the door closed). Have all the materials you need to make progress on or complete your top priority project. Bring a glass of water or tea so you won't have to take a break.
- Eliminate distractions! Switch off your phone, close your email software, hide newspapers, etc. (The world will survive if you are off email for an hour!). If a to-do item occurs to you during this hour, write it down to do later.
- Set a timer for 50 minutes. Put a timer on your desk (an egg timer, watch with alarm, etc) and set it for 50 minutes. For example, if it's 10 AM, set an alarm for 10:50 AM. This step is key, so don't skip it!
- Work with focus for 50 minutes. During that 50-minute period, work only on the high-priority project you've selected. If the project will take several hours, then go ahead and finish off a 50-minute chunk.
- Don't do anything else. Don't check email, don't make phone calls, don't get coffee, etc. Instead, get some serious work done.
- Reward yourself! When the timer goes off, take a 10-minute break and something that will refresh you. For example, take a short walk outside to get the blood circulating, enjoy a glass of water.
Schedule your Power Hours in your calendar for the week. Preferably, schedule your sessions during those times when you work most productively. You can try one power hour in the morning and one in the afternoon. Or you can try two hours in a row with a 30-minute break in between.
