Eve's Specialties

I specialize in Coaching that:

Enriches & supports life transitions-- attracting & enhancing jobs or careers; attracting & enhancing relationships; planning for retirement; changing living environments; changing spiritual direction.

Rebalances your life (where do I really want to put my time, energy, and resources?)-- developing awareness of personal choices & commitments; decluttering; learning time management skills; connecting to a more authentic vision of living.

Opens your creative advantage-- developing & exploring your vision for fulfilled living; committing to choices that matter; asking directly for what you want; expressing your unique message; completing writing, art, other personal projects.

I also offer Body-Energy Therapy on its own-- and in conjunction with coaching-- for people who want to move with greater ease and depth through life transitions and challenges. In helping you feel and embody your energy for action, body-energy awareness is an integral aspect of bringing your goals to life and fulfillment! (Note: I also offer safe, focused, body-based work for survivors of sexual abuse and other trauma.)

From Straw into Gold-- Transforming Obstacles into Fulfillment

Eve
What did you experience this summer that expanded your outlook and made you reach farther? How are you harvesting the summer energy and glow into ways of living and working right now that are authentic and satisfying?

As a life coach whose purpose is to help people create change and meaning at new stages in their lives, I found great heart and inspiration in two events this summer. One was watching the outcome of 18 months of professional development on the campaign trail of two distinctive candidates for the American presidency, one a woman, one an African-American man-- Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama-- at the Democratic national convention. The growth of their confidence and sense of purpose from the beginning of their campaigns with all the obstacles each had faced up until the very moments of their speeches at the convention was breathtaking.

The other was very personal-- a biking trip I took with some friends in Germany. Now in my late 50's, this was not, as I saw it, just a time to enjoy a greener summer in a landscape of castles and Gothic churches. It was also a physical challenge to myself. What am I capable of doing with my body? How far can I go carrying 40 pounds of gear? In the process, I quickly encountered my Saboteur who said, "You're going to fail, you have to be younger to do this." I didn't even dare communicate my fears to my friends at first for fear they would agree with my Saboteur. In retrospect, the power of that debilitating voice is really astonishing to me! I biked on, but was grim and exhausted for the first two days, fighting out my fears in lonely isolation.

On the third day, I twisted my ankle and worried that my biking trip was at an end. In those initial hours of pain, though, I felt a message from my body saying, "You need to slow down, be with what is, and feel what you really want." Since there was no alternative, I did slow down and listened from my body-therapist perspective with some curiosity to the message I heard from my ankle and heart: "I really want to do this biking trip, and I want to I enjoy everything about it. To do this, I need to communicate my needs and feelings to my friends, so that the rhythm of this trip is right for my body and I can relax."

As soon as I talked with my friends, the critical voice stopped, the fear drained away, and I felt light and carefree. The next day, I bandaged my ankle, continued biking at a modified pace, and had a wonderful time-- physically, culturally, and personally-- for the rest of the trip. The BIG learning for me, once again, was that there is no one "right" way to succeed. The important thing was consciously acknowledging and dealing with my fear, so that I could "feel out" what was best for me to do.

I biked fewer kilometers than I'd planned, but I felt so much better about who I was as a person and my trip as a whole. If you want additional support for overcoming the obstacles that keep you from the "gold" of living with joy and satisfaction, just call or email me anytime for a free consultation.

So as you get in gear for the fall, remember that the source of all possibilities (as well as limitations) are inside yourself-- and you can choose to put your energy behind those thoughts that serve you best and let you live to your fullest measure! If you want additional support for overcoming the obstacles that keep you from living with joy and satisfaction, please feel free to call me for a free consultation.

With warm wishes,

Eve

"If you want your life to be different, you have to do something different. To do something different often means getting past a lifetime of conditioning and beliefs that grab you by the throat when you attempt to change." (from the section "Take on the Saboteurs")
