What People Are Saying
|
"By setting an environment of safety and respect, Eve works with me to find creative, interesting ways that take me where I want to go. I'm now looking forward to moving into the next phase of my life-- out of pain and an emotionally cramped way of living-- into a much wider scope, one of heartfelt potential where I love the work I do and have healthy relationships-- where my body, mind, and spirit flow together."

Creating Soul Satisfaction for Work, Home, and Play!
At the end of the day, how satisfied do you feel with the quality of your life? Does the interplay of work, personal relationships, family, fun and recreation, plus other creative projects feel rich and meaningful to you? What is it that you are longing for still?
Learning to appreciate deep satisfaction with life-- otherwise known as "soul"-- is the number one reason people come to see me for both life coaching and body therapy. For one young man, an environmental lawyer, our coaching clarified for him that he needed to move out of the city and live with others who shared his "green" values. A woman I saw for body therapy whose health was compromised realized that she had to change her attitude about work and do what she loved-- training and supporting animals.
As we explore together the changes that people want to make, it becomes clear that what they want is to feel depth and value in what they do. Without this, energy and purpose wither, and nothing satisfies. As psychotherapist and teacher Thomas Moore says, caring for the soul and the satisfaction it brings is about "cultivating a richly expressive and meaningful life at home and in society."
Below are some suggestions and questions that I use in working with people to create professional and personal changes that make their lives richer and more meaningful. Enjoy exploring some of these that are appealing, and see what opens for you. Then go to "Question of the Month" and share your discoveries!
I also invite you to learn to bring soul satisfaction into your life by trying a coaching "Discovery" session, or a body-energy session, with me-- and receive a 20% discount on your next two hours of Kailas coaching and/or body-energy therapy.
May your life become a place of enjoyment and enrichment that you delight in and share with others--
Eve

Five Tips for Creating Soul Satisfaction
1) Pay attention to sensory details that enhance your experience in each moment! Enjoy the spicy scent of a tomato plant you're growing. Bask in the pleasant warmth of sunshine on your wrist as you work at your computer. Savor your first bite of a fresh peach, tasting skin, flesh, and juice with attention and delight.
2) Feel how you are connected with other living beings, sometimes in unexpected ways. Get curious and interested. Make contact with someone you would like to know-- then see what happens to the quality of your life.
3) Follow your imagination and do something wildly creative. Stay alive to your joy and passion!
4) Honor your personal values (what matters to you) as much as possible. If you are ignoring any of your values working in a certain profession or being with a particular person, what happens? What would you like to change?
5) Practice doing whatever you do with love. How can you become more skillful at finding and developing work and relationships that you love?

Thomas Moore's Care of the Soul has been a guidebook of mine for the past fifteen years. When people ask me what "soul" is, I turn to the words from this book for insight, because they authenticate my own feeling that this level of living is what gives all that we do meaning. The soul deeply nourishes us, contains the wisdom of the body and the timelessness of the spirit-- and longs for expression in our lives. Memorably, he writes: "If we can be affected by beauty, then soul is alive and well in us . . . The word passion means basically 'to be affected,' and passion is the essential energy of the soul." Moore shows that there can be purpose, expressiveness, and soul in all human conditions-- including those called pathological, such as depression and bulimia, as well as in creativity, sensory awareness, spiritual awakening, and love and relationship. This book is a journey for people who are interested in calling forth the mystery of their lives, as well as its joy and connection. |
